ZSL London Zoo is one of the world’s most famous zoo attractions. London Zoo officially opened to the public in 1847 and has been delighting visitors for well over a century. The attraction is set in central London in the picturesque Regents Park, making it very accessible as it is in the centre of London! Today the park houses well over 750 different species of animals and is home to creatures such as Tigers, Zebras, Gorillas, Penguins and even Komodo Dragons! The park is very well kept and clean and has some fantastic exhibits, most of the time you would not realise you are in central London. The beautiful new Tiger Territory enclosure enables visitors to get up close and personal to their beautiful and majestic Tigers. Penguin Beach is also another must see enclosure where these charismatic birds are always a joy to watch.
The park also has a huge variety of shows and presentations that are very informative and funny to watch. Favourites include the Penguin show, watching the Pygmy Hippos being fed and a talk with the zoo keeper about the cheeky Squirrel Monkeys. Some other animal exhibits that should not be missed are the Reptile’s house, the impressive Giant Tortoise and Komodo Dragon enclosures as well as the fantastic Aquarium. They also have some fantastic facilities such as cafes, restaurants and lots of play areas where children can run around. To sum it up, London Zoo is a fantastic day out, no matter what the age. The animals are clearly well looked after, the park is very well kept and it is a great value day out.
